Wildabeast Choreography – Yummy/Rake It Up

Alright y’all. I think this may be my first “controversial” review… as of late I unfortunately haven’t been a huge fan of Will and his choreo. Every once in a blue moon I will be hype about one of his videos, but most of the time I find his choreography too .. theatrical? Literal? I understand the fun and importance of wordplay, but sometimes I think it hinders his creative process by focusing too much on it. I also have a hard time adjusting to his love of hard lines and straight arms a lot. This video lacked energy and the usual hype that comes with his classes. Coming up with the right words to review this one is so hard for some reason. It doesn’t pull me in and make me wanna dance with them.

Jake Kodish Choreography – Easy (Remix) by DaniLeigh ft Chris Brown

Jake. MF. Kodish.

The way Jake moves is so unique and no one can ever quite execute his choreo the way he can. But, man Bailey came pretty darn close. First of all, I freakin love this song so I was stoked when I saw this video on my feed. Jake does such a good job at separating his moves, but making them ebb and flow all at the same time. How can I explain this.. haha. Some dancers get caught up in the choreography and it looks muddy and has very little dynamics, but the way he differentiates each move with purpose is crazy. I hope that makes some sense to someone. Gah one of my favorite parts is in the very beginning.. lyrics say “Whippin through the 305 highway-
Love it how you ride in the fast lane” HIS CONTROL AND TIMING ugh. Then the collapse during “Never wanna look to thirsty, but your drip got me feelin wavyyyy”. There are just no words haha. He’s another one of those dancers that so subtly add sexy touches into his choreo but it’s never over the top. I can respect that. I can never see the details of his dances as well on other performers, but either way I am a big fan. I do prefer when he choreographs to his funky/techno tracks as opposed to popular pop songs, but hey if Jake is dancing.. I’m gonna watch.

Talia Favia Choreography – Mine by Beyonce ft Drake

Let me preface this with I am totally and completely here for Sean and Kaycee. Together, separate, their choreo, other people’s dances, whatevs.. I am HERE for both of them. They are truly forces in the dance world and have been from a very young age. As much as I LOVE both of them doing this choreo, I gotta say Sean’s interpretation looks absolutely effortless and so artistic. Kaycee does, of course, kill this dance with such intensity and intention.. but today I wanna focus on Sean’s execution/style.

Okay everyone I’ve watched this video with always say “Sean looks possessed in the beginning omg he looks scary like the grudge crawling omg” but I love it. I love that he follows the hard bass with his fists and the “wanna roll wanna roll” with his shoulders at 4:39 COME ON. So subtle. So fluid. And the expression like “ya watch me kill this”. Ugh! My FAVORITE part of this choreo on Sean is SO simple, but gah he executes it with such ease. At 4:50 – 4:51, in my head I see that move as something delicate and feminine. But, how does he still look so masculine and strong when he does it?! Just the look of something floating away as she says “no rest in the kingdom”. So good. The leap that looks slow motion at 5:06…. you didn’t have to do it to us like that Sean. THE ATHLETICISM. I so appreciate that Sean waits. He waits for the music to do the explaining THROUGH him. He takes his time and every movement has a purpose. None of the choreo gets lost on his body just for the sake of going through the motions. He connects with each part and it shows. 5:18 – 5:20 shows exactly what I mean. He gives it time to live.. to breath. He lets his weight fall naturally after giving that move its entire time to shine. Okay I’m rambling now. Stay for his freestyle at the end bc 10/10. Enjoy!

I have a problem ok

Brian Puspos Choreography – Early 2K by Chris Brown

Alright. Here we are. First dance video review of 2020 wooooooooo!
Let me just start with the obvious. I have a problem. I may be slightly (or majorly) obsessed with Brian Puspos and have been for almost a decade now. I’ll admit it. Get it out in the open. Start my blog off with this just so we can all get used to it. I am willing to take full responsibility with this obsession/love. Okay. Moving on.

Well, obviously Brian can’t go wrong with a Chris Brown track. His body was literally made to choreograph to R&B I swear. Especially throwbacks from the early 2000’s. If I could visually SEE this song, this is exactly how it would play out. This choreo right here. He so effortlessly transitions back and forth between hitting beats I didn’t even know were there, and gliding with the vocals regardless of how crazy the riff. Perfect Example of this – 0:29 through 0:40 ish. Straight from smooth af display of the vocals into the execution of those bass beats. Fiiiiiire. I appreciate that he can be sexy while being subtle and tasteful about it. Okay but 1:27 gets me HYYYYPE. I freaking love to see dancers just having FUN and grooving. It just makes me smile a big cheesy smile and get up and do the move with them haha. This is one of my favorites from him that he’s put out recently, so I hope y’all enjoy.

Welcome to my life y’all

I’ve been wanting to start a blog about dance videos for years now, but I always feared no one would care to read what I had to say.

Welp, it’s 2020. YOLO.

Hi all – For lack of a better idea on introducing myself … This ya girl. Lauren.

I have been dancing basically all of my life and spend most, if not all, of my time watching dance video after dance video. My friends and family have grown accustom to this (and probably are sick and tired of it, frankly).. So I wanted to make a safe space for me to vent all my feels about dance/choreography/videos etc. and hopefully some peeps will join in!
